The company was established in 1957 in the name of the Irbid National Electricity Company, and its concession law was issued in the name of the Ajloun District Electricity Company in 1961, according to which the company obtained the right to generate, transmit and distribute electrical energy for the entire concession area that includes the governorates of Irbid, Mafraq, Jarash, Ajloun and parts of Balqa governorate, in light of the administrative divisions What happened in the Kingdom in 1967, the name of the company was changed to become Irbid Governorate Electricity Public Shareholding Company, Ltd.
